We have our second un-bottle drive happening tonight. Don’t forget to bring in your empties and donate them to the squadron. Last time we did this we raised over 500.00 by simply bringing in your empties. Cant get much simpler than that.
Tomorrow at the squadron there will be a parent meeting and we will have a trailer in the parking lot to accept your bags of bottles for a Un-bottle drive fundraiser. Don’t Forget! More info here if you did not get the message a week ago http://918aircadets.ca/un-bottle-drive/
This one is easy. Do you shop on amazon.ca? Do you buy gift cards for Christmas? Have you ever online shopped? If you do any of these we can get percentage of up to 20% referral commissions on your purchases to the squadron!
First you need to sign up here (don’t worry this will only take you a couple minutes) https://www.flipgive.com/signup. Then when asked choose to ‘Join Existing team’ you will need to input this code “WQ5XB2” without the quotation marks. You can then watch the get started video (Let’s be honest, most of us just skip this step and that is ok but it is only 3 min long and will benefit everyone if you do watch it). At the bottom of the video page you will see a couple of buttons for ‘Go to Team Store’ and ‘Buy Gift Card’. They are pretty much self explanatory but the team store is your URL to use and share to get the commissions for the unit. It will look like this and you can share it with friends and family, https://www.flipgive.com/teams/159160-918-air-cadets-sponsoring-committee-fundraiser .
If you do not want to sign up that is fine too. Just use the previous URL and shop there. Don’t forget to share it with everyone you know and they too can help the squadron.
There are three extra easy ways to participate below.
My only remaining question to you is, why are you still here? Go click on the link above and start shopping. Also Share this link with your friends, family and loved ones.
So we all hate the time and effort in bottle drives. But they are effective in generating funds. So we are running a Un-bottle drive.
Here is how it works:
On the parade night of Wed the 28th of November bring in your empty bottles. Or better yet knock on a couple neighbors doors and get theirs, or ask your relatives to bring their empties to you. There will be a truck and trailer parked at the church parking lot where we will gather your bottles and take them in the next day to http://www.sagehillbottledepot.ca/ Sage hill has offered an extra 10% on all the bottles we bring in too! Thank you Sage Hill!
Pretty simple and painless right? So bring in your empties when your drop off your cadet or when you pick them up! Easy Peazy.
P.S. This is the first Wednesday after the Grey Cup festival. This is a great excuse to have a party on the weekend at your house and bring your empties to us 🙂
Dear Parents,
There was a mail out 6 weeks ago asking for donations through cheque writing campaign. To date, we have only seen 4 donations for only $3,605.00. We realized that a lot of parents might not have received that email and were unaware of this campaign. To keep the Squadron running we need to raise $30,000.00 for the operating expenses for this year. With 140+ cadets, that works out to be only about $215 per cadet for the whole year.
What is a Cheque Writing Campaign?
It is a request to parents to make a single financial donation instead of a mandatory participation fee.
This is one of the most effective methods of fund-raising.
Why a Cheque Writing Campaign?
Here is an example of the tax benefit:
When a donor in Alberta with a taxable income of $40,000 makes a donation of $1000 in 2016. Their tax credit is calculated as the total of:
Ø $30 (15% on the first $200)
Ø $232 (29% on the remaining $800)
Ø $20 (10% on the first $200)
Ø $168 (21% on the remaining $800)
Total charitable donation tax credit = $450 ($262 + $188) or 45% of the donation. For anyone who makes more than $200,000, the tax credit can be even higher.
How to donate?
Write a cheque addressed to AIR CADET LEAGUE OF CANADA, fill in this pledge form and get your cadet to hand it into the main office on the next parade night. If you send it in via mail make sure to state that this is for the 918 Squadron and your cadet’s name on a note or on the PDF form. It is that simple.
Via the web via the Air Cadet League. The direct link to the donation page on the Air Cadet League is: https://ots.sumacpages.com/sumac/sumac_start_new_session.php?package=donation2&userfolder=../ORG/aircadetleagueofcanada
It is important to remember to make sure that the field “Your message to the Air Cadet League: ” has a note stating that this is for the “918 Squadron in Calgary and your cadet’s name”
Your cadet needs your support!
The squadron needs funds immediately to continue operating. We respect that not everyone can donate money directly but 4 out of the 140+ cadet parents and guardians is not a great number and we can do better.
If you are unable to contribute financially, talk to us as there are other ways that you can contribute. We are currently running the canteen every Wednesday. In the coming weeks, we will be starting other fund-raising activities like selling gift cards or chocolates, and bottle drives. For these to be successful, we will need a lot of volunteers.
“Many hands make light work.” John Heywood
We are all busy and this is the best way to avoid having too many fund-raising activities.
