We are issuing a challenge to all of the creative cadets out there to design our squadron crest. This is your opportunity to shape how we see the squadron for the rest of time – the crest is how we identify ourselves in cadets! Not many cadets have this opportunity, so take it while you can. You can submit it as a hand drawn version as once we select the winner we will have it professionally drawn. Here are the details:
Due: December 19th 2018 (last parade night before Christmas)
Submit: either email to 918training@gmail.com or submit in person to the TrgO or OC
Requirements:
(a) A rough coloured sketch of the proposed badge symbol and must fit inside the circle of the template;
(b) Reasons for choice of the symbol – go into detail as to what you have chosen and why its important – how it represents the squadron;
(c) The proposed squadron motto, if applicable. Text should be gold with white highlights, capitalized, Times New Roman font and have no effects (bevel, shadow, etc)
(d) The design cannot replicate or duplicate another Squadron’s design. In addition, illustrations,
photographs, symbols and drawings cannot be copies, facsimiles or any other
representations of licensed or copyrighted trademarks, images or other symbols, i.e. such as
those owned by the Disney Company, Universal Pictures and so on;
(e) The proposed design must not carry over into the space for Squadron Name or number and
cannot include designs deemed inappropriate and/or offensive;
(f) The text in the concentric circle can be in French, English and Latin only, again slogans,
wording and/or any other descriptive text must not duplicate an existing design, it must also
be appropriate, non-offensive and respectful of good manners and taste and provide a
positive image of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets and the Air Cadet League of Canada.
