Updates on Summer Training Changes coming Summer 2020:
The National team has outlined some changes for the upcoming Summer Training as per the attached 2.1 Infographic – Changes to CTC 2020– here are some of the details for our region.
General Training will be a one week course. Cadets will arrive on Sunday and return home the following Saturday. As in the past, cadet corps will be allocated one of the six intakes for their cadets to attend General Training. All cadets will receive common training with one day of elemental training. A course description beyond that is not available at this time. Our Sea and Army cadets will attend Vernon CTC. Additionally, there will be one intake of General Training Army run in Whitehorse CTC. Our Air Cadets will attend Albert Head CTC.
Music training is being consolidated to specific training centres to optimize training resources and SMEs. Our Pipes and Drums cadets will attend Argonaut CTC at CFB Gagetown in New Brunswick. The majority of our Military Band cadets will attend HMCS QUADRA, with a small number of Army cadets attending Vernon CTC. Both of these training centres are located in British Columbia.
The Basic Aviation Technology and Aerospace (BATA) will run at Cold Lake CTC. All other Basic/Advanced training not mentioned we assume at this time will be at the existing summer training centres (ones used in the past).
National Summer Training Update:
As mentioned, we are only able to nominate 2 cadets for each of the technical national summer training courses. The following cadets have been nominated on behalf of 918 RCACS and will follow through the selection process for the National Summer Training (Scholarships):
Aircraft Maintenance – Sgt Hannah Caparino, Sgt Justin Low
Airport Operations – Sgt Heidi Leung, Sgt Charity Grey
Advanced Aerospace – Sgt Caparino Sarah, FCpl Julian Tan
Glider Pilot – FCpl Sraddha Uppili
Notification of selection for these courses are likely to happen in April 2020. Thank-you to all cadets who applied and went through the local selection process. If you have any questions please email Captain Angel to schedule a time to discuss.
