918 Griffon Squadron’s brand new shoulder flashes are in the mail and currently somewhere between Ontario and Alberta. We anticipate them arriving just in time for our first ACR. This is one of the last parts of standing up a new unit, and we are going to attempt to complete this in our last week of the training year.
This will be a multi-step process spread across several days, and will not be possible without the assistance and cooperation of not only the cadets but their parents, as some short-notice sewing of velcro and badges will be required. A letter explaining our planned intent, along with more detailed instructions, is attached. Please take a moment to review it.
If all goes to plan, new badges and equipment will be distributed to cadets at ACR on Sat 15 Jun. Additional assistance with sewing and tacking will be made available on the evening of Mon 17 Jun at the squadron, should cadets or families require it. Sewing tasks need to be completed by Wed 19 Jun, when we hold our promotions and badges parade (and the final formal parade of the year). The old 781 Calgary badges will be replaced with the new 918 Griffon badges before cadets depart for summer break and summer training across the country.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance in helping complete our “year of firsts”.
